The DidWhat yearly survey!

(from my sister-in-law)

1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
Flew all by myself
Took a safety class
Toured the US Capitol with my four sisters and friends
Attended my first ball
Turned 21 (and a few fun things that went along with that)
Installed tire chains on a vehicle

2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I did not make any resolutions, so I didn’t have any to break.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth or get pregnant?
Yes, both of my sister-in-law’s.

4. Did anyone close to you get married?
My older brother.

6. Travel?
Three road trips, one whole month spent with my grandmother and eight delightful days visiting friends.

7. Did you move anywhere?
Nope.

8. What was the best month?
March. September. October. And. December. Yep, all of thems was good.

9. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
More steadfastness of purpose.

10. What date(s) from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
March 29th: my brother's wedding. September 1st: my nephew arrived. October 25th: my first ball.

11. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Learning several dances in three days.

12. What was your biggest failure?
Nothing comes to mind.

13. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Yes, I have a recollection of a cold or two, and a strange terrible illness in October.

14. What was the best thing you bought?
Who writes these things anyway?

15. Whose behavior merited celebration?
I’d have to say the family my sisters and I stayed with. They were the *perfect* hosts!

16. Whose behavior made you appalled and/or depressed?
I’m not a tattler.

17. Where did most of your money go?
Taxes.

18. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
My brother’s wedding, visiting back East and attending the ball.

19. What song will always remind you of 2008?
2008 was a great year… I haven’t written it yet, but I will. :-)

20. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Happier by far.
ii. thinner or fatter? Thinner
iii. richer or poorer? Much richer, but wealth is not measured in dollars.

21. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Outdoor activities.

22. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Spending money.

23. How will you be spending New Year's Eve/Day?
At precisely midnight, I was sound asleep. I don’t believe in staying awake to welcome the New Year.

24. What was an unexpected surprise?
I have come to expect the unexpected and was therefore not surprised by any big things.

25. Did you fall in love in 2008?
Nope.

26. What was the best concert you've been to this year?
I didn’t go to one.

27. What was your favorite TV program?
I discovered Agatha Christie’s Partners in Crime; Tommy and Tuppence Beresford. It’s hilarious!

28. Do you dislike anyone now that you didn't dislike this time last year?
Not really.

29. What was the best book you read?
I can’t even remember half of the books I read!

30. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Nada.

31. What did you want and get?
Another sister-in-law, a nephew, lots of fabric, a ball gown, etc, etc, etc.

32. What did you want and not get?
A nicer camera. A laptop.

33. What was your favorite film of this year?
Either the Bourne Movies or The Abduction Club.

34. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 21 and just stayed home to do the usual.

35. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
I can’t think of anything off the top of my head.

36. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
Pretty good; I’m getting there.

37. What kept you sane?
Who said anything did?!! ;-)

38. What political issue stirred you the most?
I did not pay much attention to politics this year. I’m still on a sabbatical.

40. Who was the best new person you met?
I met a million new people this year, but I couldn’t name one as *the best*.

41. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008:
Telling someone they are a complete jerk wouldn’t get anyone anywhere (not new, but still very good).

It’s that song that I haven’t written yet. :-D
